Last Chance to Attend the Great American Salon Series
Danny Lerman performs the Gershwin Songbook On November 14, 2007
(South Bend, IN) - South Bend Regional Museum of Art in association with Lampkin Music Group presents the Great American Salon Series: A Celebration of the Music of Berlin, Carmichael, Ellington, Gershwin, and Porter. A first-time production of its kind in South Bend, the Great American Salon Series is three top-notch musical events featuring performers from the region, several boasting international acclaim, singing the melodies of the greatest 20th century American composers in the finest setting possible, an art museum. Saxophonist Danny Lerman, locally born and raised in South Bend, will be returning to the music of his father's age in this special one night only appearance on November 14, 2007. For this event, Lerman will concentrate on the instrumental side of the songs of the great George Gershwin performing such beloved material as "Summertime," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "Love is Here to Stay" and other well-known songs from the pen of genius George Gershwin.
Both on Broadway and Hollywood, the Gershwin brothers (Ira and George) where a phenomenal success at a very young age. In 1924, the brothers began their collaboration, on the musical comedy "Lady Be Good." It included such standards as "Fascinating Rhythm" and "The Man I Love." It was the beginning of a partnership that would continue through Broadway and Hollywood.

Tickets are available at the SBRMA office and should be purchased in advanced to guarantee seating. Walk-up seating cannot be guaranteed. Please call (574) 235-9102 – Visa, MasterCard, cash and checks accepted. Seating is limited, ages 21 and over. Tickets are $28, which includes entry into the performance, hors d’ oeuvres and wine.
